I decided to revisit the cover art for Jack Aimes and the Serpent's Kiss. The new version has a more vintage look to it that I truly appreciate.

The illustrator is Emmshin, someone I've commission for several book covers.

Let me know what you think of this new look.

His life quickly becomes one of intrigue when he meets a beautiful woman named Bluma, a waitress at the local café. A life, once mundane fast becomes one of car chases, mysterious strangers with guns, mysticism and the acquisition, loss and pursuit of an important book called “The Prose Edda”.

Follow Jack as he tries to recover “The Prose Edda”, avoids being killed by those in pursuit of him and as he tries to discover what happened to the beautiful waitress who has gone missing.

In his adventure Jack will discover more about his friends, the extent evil men will go to in pursuit of their goals and the vulnerability of the world to the reemergence of ancient magic.

Jack Aimes and the Serpent's Kiss started as a project for my writer's group. We wanted to challenge ourselves with writing a genre none of us have explored in a time period and setting we weren't familiar with. We decided on pulp fiction, no not like the Quentin Tarantino film, but more akeen to books like Doc Savage, The Shadow, and The Phantom.

We began storyboarding the adventure, placing it in 1937 Belgium. Why you ask? Well don't ask, because I don't remember the answer. But what I can recall is the fun we had putting this gem together. Jack Aimes and the Serpent's Kiss is the collective work of H. Holman, C Isaacs, Larry Clos and myself.

Desperate Hours by D K Gaston

After a six year absence, Joe Hooks and Kool-Aid are back in another exciting adventure.

The story picks up more than a year after the events of Lost Hours. It is the summer of 2006. Joe is visited by a man he’d hoped never to see again, Grady, a former mob enforcer currently working for a corrupt city councilman, Lucius Meriwether. Grady questions him about the whereabouts of Kool-Aid. When Joe doesn’t have an answer for him, the enforcer departs, leaving Joe with a lot of questions of his own. Later, he is contacted by Shanna, a teen he helped escape the clutches of a pimp. She begs him to come pick her up. He does, only to find her injured, telling him of a knife wielding killer.

In the meantime, Kool-Aid is hired to protect Minnie, another teenager Joe helped from the same pimp. She spins a tale of being chased by street thugs. However, when two professional goons come after the teen, her story begins to fall apart. Kool-Aid must decide whether to continuing helping her or cut Minnie loose.

While Joe protects Shanna from being pulled into a murder investigation (where she's the prime suspect); Kool-Aid also has his hands full keeping Minnie out of harm's way.

One or both girls' might be keeping secrets from their protectors that could place all their lives in mortal danger.
