I will be vending at the Motor City Black Age of Comics & Manga Con 2022 in the first week of June.

It's been a few years since I've attended a convention in person and I'm very excited to speak to all those stopping at my table. This year, I'll actually be selling comic books.

DETROIT- Midwest Ethnic Convention for Comics and Arts - MECCA, aka MECCAcon, is a large comic book/literacy convention and international film festival held annually in Detroit, MI. The primary reason M.E.C.C.A was established was to instill knowledge primarily in the younger art culture. It is my mission to make sure that children know that all "heroes" do not look the same, that many actually look just like THEM. It is also important to learn the origin of comic books, what the historical facts come from, and what the word "hero" actually derives from.

Unlike many "comic cons", we don't just focus only on comic books. Art has several mediums, and we want to highlight them all. MECCAcon will highlight comics, international/independent film, afrofuturism, science fiction, steampunk, fine art, music, graffiti, dj artists, handmade artisans, african belly dance, urban gardening, fashion, african martial arts, and more.

Picture

I will be attending the Moter City Black Age of Comics Convention

ABOUT THE EVENT:

The Motor City Black Age was established by an Artist/Writer of the comic book genre Andre Batts,  in 2009.After many years of going to Comic Book conventions across the U.S. Andre Batts had came to the realization that the Minority was the minority at most comic book conventions. He seen many faces at the cons, but few that looked like him. Being a comic book creator himself , he sought to create an event for the Comic Book creators of Color of Metro Detroit getting the recognition they deserve.    The Motor City Black Age is part of a movement that has expanded across the U.S. It is a gathering for black creators, artist, animators and fans from all walks of life to meet and learn from each other.  It is an annual gathering of comic book creators, artist, writers and retailers who create and sell material that caters to  readers of all ages. In addition to selling their work, they also take part in panel discussions, art workshops for all ages  and self-publishing workshops for     aspiring creators and artist.
