Muscular eight-foot Minotaurs wearing nothing but leather loin cloths and wielding huge battle axes fought against hordes of Serpopard, who had leopard’s bodies and serpents’ long necks and heads. More than once the sharp jagged claws of the Serpopard’s paws sparked heavily against the serrated edges and sweeping curves of the Minotaurs’ axes.
One of the half-bull-half-man creatures dared to strike at Ayira, sweeping his powerful weapon horizontally through the air. Ayira ducked underneath his thrust, ran up to the eight-foot behemoth, used the creature’s leg as a step-ladder and climbed up the mane on its chest until she reached its head. With the grace of a cat, she pulled herself along his hairy neck, stopping when she’d positioned herself behind its horned skull. Reaching around with her sword, she swept the blade from ear to ear along her attacker’s throat. The Minotaur loosed a great roar as his life’s blood sprayed from the long gash in his neck, and then toppled forward to his death. Ayira leapt off the creature as his corpse struck the ground.
